CILLI VOM FLOESSERDORF ”CILLI”
1984   1985

Our meeting with the rough variety of Belgians we made together with Gunnel Ferm, kennel Subtils. Gunnel became our interpreter in the contact with Lucie and Fred Schmid-Joggi from Switzerland.

We met Fred and Lucie at the German Specialty in Seitingen. This first meeting with the Laekenois was very impressive. The Laeken-family was Fred, Lucie and their Laekens Nicole Porretta, Fedor v. Sisgau, Flo Porretta and the 4 months old Cilli.

We spent time with Fred and Lucie all weekend and we learned about the Laekenois. Soon we felt part of the family, and if someone left there were some anxiety in the group. Fedor, the pack leader, appeared to be very dominant and with a great charisma. Other Belgians near by seemed to avoid "Fedor the King" if he ordered them to.

After 4 months in quarantine finally Cilli came home to us and after that she had 2 months of "home quarantine". Time went by and we started to plan for Cilli's debut in the show ring and for her to participate at a caracter test.

Suddenly it all was taken away from us. Cilli was playing in the garden with a Tervueren male (Fannyhills Alexandre-Leon) when suddenly we heard the train, signalling frenetic several times. We understood that something was wrong, and rushed out. There we met a lonely Tervueren. Hans rushed down to the railroad and short after he finds Cilli, hit by the train. After a high speed trip to the animals hospital in Örebro, we could only state that Cilli was dead.

We love you Cilli, and we are happy for the time we got together with you !
